Belated Valentines

Tuesday, April 14, 2015

I am so sorry I haven't been able to update for the past two months. I've been on vacation to visit my family in Hong Kong, but I am back home now and I will be able to update a lot more often. I have purchased a lot of Korean cosmetics on my trip so I will be posting my reviews in the coming posts.

But for today, I will post my 2-months-late Valentine outfit. This was already pre-taken before my trip however I wasn't able to update my blog.

Re-Sparkle your Jewelry

Monday, February 9, 2015

As I was picking out a few of my accessories for my trip to Hong Kong, I noticed my Pandora bracelet rusted a lot. To the point there it was almost completely black on some parts. Thank god there is a way to remove the rust. It looks almost completely new after it's cleaned. I regret not taking a picture before I cleaned it so I could have a photo for comparison but here is an after photo.

So how do you achieve that bright shine on old jewelry? The method I used is really simple.

Materials Needed
- Boiling hot water
- Sheet of aluminum foil
- A plate where you can place your jewelry in it
- Baking soda
- *optional* A soft bristled toothbrush

Step 1
Place your sheet of aluminum foil over your plate

Step 2
Place your rusted jewelry on top of the foil. Spread the chains out so they are not clumped together

Step 3
Pour baking soda on top of your jewelry until they are completely covered with baking soda. Doesn't have to be to much, just as long as they are covered.

Step 4
Pour hot water over the jewelry and wait till the fizzing stops.

Step 5 (optitonal)
If there are still left over rust from your jewelry, use a tooth brush and gently scrub off the rust. Add more baking soda if needed and pour hot water over it like Step 3 & 4. Continue scrubbing the jewelry while it is still fizzing.

Step 6
Simply rinse off the excess baking soda with warm water and dry with paper towel.

This process should remove all the rust from your jewelry. Repeat process if there are still some remaining rust left. I hope this works well for you guys! Good luck~

Today's outfit of the day, simple and cute! I love these bow details on the jeans. It is very cute and I love the color. The right pictures show the color of the jeans more accurately. If only it was warm enough in NY to wear this out.

What am I wearing?
Top - A crop top from Hollister. The print says "Keep shining you crazy diamond"
Bottom - Hollow bow skinny jeans from SammyDress
Shoes - Un-named brand purchased in Hong Kong

I like to pretend I'm a princess sometimes

Well.. today I felt like dressing up so I looked at my pile of new clothes that I haven't wore yet and one thing lead to another. This top gave me a royalty vibe and the song Royals by Lorde popped into mind.

"And we'll never be royals (royals).
It don't run in our blood
That kind of luxe just ain't for us.
We crave a different kind of buzz.
Let me be your ruler (ruler),
You can call me queen Bee
And baby I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule, I'll rule.
Let me live that fantasy."

Well we can all pretend sometimes. (:

When I first opened my package and saw this top, I didn't know how to match that with anything since it was too long to be just a top, and too short to be a dress. But then I found my lace-y shorts and what do you know, it goes perfectly well together!

What am I wearing?
Headband - A faux pearl headband purchased from SammyDress
Necklace - Faux pearl with bow necklace from SammyDress
Top - "Vintage Peter Pan Collar Flower Pattern Slimming Blouse" in Navy Blue from SammyDress
Bottom - Cotton lace shorts from SammyDress
Legs - Knee-high socks
Shoes - "Belanie Booties" in Black from Nine West

Simplistic Timepiece Accessory

Monday, January 26, 2015

Lately I’ve taking an interest in wristwatches with minimalist style. I can’t help but notice Daniel Wellington’s line of time pieces. Their watches look simple and clean, which I absolutely adore. They can be matched with almost any outfit, from a casual T-shirt and jeans to a fashionable blouse and skirt, or even professional attire.

While I love the simple look with just a sleek leather band, there are days when I want to look more edgy with my Daniel Wellington. So what do I do? Just snap on any bracelets that matches the overall outfit and there we go! Adding on bracelet accessories can change the style completely. Like so….

Besides adding different accessories to spice up the look, Daniel Wellington watches have different wrist bands to switch the watch’s style completely.  They sell many different style and colors of bands. I purchased the Grace London which came with a navy blue/burgundy band. I wanted the Classic Sheffield black leather band so I bought that separately and switched the bands. The bands are very easy to switch, just use the pin-like tool that came with the watch to pop the spring off from the watch.

For more reference, search up #dwpickoftheday on Instagram. They feature customer’s photos of their time pieces.

Chronicles of old OOTDs

Hi! This is my first post in my very first blog! Today I will be posting all my old and very crappy quality OOTD pictures from when I first started posting them on Instagram. Granted, the recent (and probably upcoming) ootd pictures won't be that much of an upgrade in terms of quality. However I will do what I can to improve my pictures. For now please just appreciate and focus of the outfit itself<3

It's funny, looking back at my old ootd pictures (7 months back) there are two "stages" of how I took my pictures.

When I first started, I was vacationing in Hong Kong with my best friend. I asked her to take a simple snap of my daily outfits off from my phone. Some which included horrible selfies (lol).

My second (and current) stage of OOTDs were taken with a cheaply purchased phone-camera remote via Bluetooth. Since I no longer have my best friend living with me, I had to take these pictures myself. They weren't any much better since my house have horrible lighting. I usually have to go on ahead and edit the brightness and other small details in Photoshop.

Hopefully my upcoming outfit posts will be more interesting and higher quality. Until I can afford a better camera other than my phone.. T^T" Please bare with me! In my future posts, I will include what I'm wearing and where it's purchased from (possible with links).

And to end my very first post, here is an picture I took on my vacation to Hong Kong. Be your own fashion icon!
